Bistre House | Facilities

At Bistre we have a large welcoming foyer with photographs of all our staff showing all their positions and a short statement about them.

The first entrance has a large entrance hall which is pleasantly decorated and has stairs or a lift access to the upstairs rooms where our dementia residents reside. This leads to a lounge with wall mounted TV and music system. The room is decorated in pastel colours and creates a warm cosy atmosphere. Each bedroom door is coloured to identify by bright colours.

This also consists of a large conservatory and dining area which is spacious with natural wood furnishings.

Menus are on display for our residents to choose their meals.

The patio doors in the conservatory open into our peaceful, secluded and tranquil patio area which has enclosed attractive fencing. This is where residents can walk freely around the patio and paved area in the sun to either sit or pot up some plants in the outdoors.

The conservatory looks onto the patio area in the secure garden with raised plant beds for the residents who enjoy gardening and has a seating area. The wall is painted with mock scenes of Buckley town.

The conservatory is a bright and airy room and gives the residents the feel of light which does help with their dementia or mental health problems.

There are communal toilets which are highlighted with yellow painted doors, a wet room and a bathroom and they are marked with signs for identity and are in both units of the home on the ground and first floors which cater for all needs.

As you enter the building, we have a large staircase as Bistre used to be the old vicarage of Bistre Church. This still holds the remembrance boards of local children who passed their eleven plus to get into the local Grammar School who lived in Buckley village. There is a lift leading to the first floor of the dementia unit. On the first floor there are seven bedrooms, all of which are large with pleasant views to the garden and surrounding area. Three of the bedrooms have en-suite toilets and the other four have wash basin facilities. There is a communal bathroom and WC.

The larger section of the home has twenty-two bedrooms all situated on the ground floor with en-suite facilities. There is a wet room which also has a bath and communal bathroom and separate communal WC.

The home is able to consider offering support to people who have complex nursing needs as well as help for those with every day care needs such as dementia.

Bistre Care Home does provide 24-hour nursing care within the home, and the Home is also supported by the Community District Nurses who attend the home on a regular basis in order to carry out and monitor any requirements of our residential residents e.g. diabetes.

We offer support for emergency admissions, temporary, respite care, day care and long-term care which is dependent on the needs of each individual.

The garden has been re-designed to enable people to sit outside whenever they choose and enjoy the tranquillity of the well-maintained garden and its gazebo or sit peacefully in the lawned area.

We also have a fenced secure area to eliminated falls and for residents to enjoy the outside areas which are grassed. Bistre is also a secured unit to enable our residents to move about freely and they are protected with keypads on doors.
