The White House Care Home, located on Grove Road in Wrexham. It has a long history, originally serving as a doctor's residence before becoming a private family home. It was later redeveloped into a respected care home that provides support for up to thirty-seven residents. Conveniently located just a five-minute walk from Wrexham town centre, it is owned by Chestnut House Health Care Ltd and registered with the Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW). The home mainly works with Wrexham County Borough Council and it offers specialised care for residents with dementia, early cognitive spectrum disorders, and other everyday needs. The staff are trained to provide person-centred care, tailored to meet each resident’s specific requirements, and work closely with the local Health Authority, Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCU), to ensure comprehensive support.
The White House Care Home provides extensive support to individuals needing assistance with daily living tasks. To ensure the most appropriate care is given, an assessment is conducted by the home’s manager or senior staff member. This assessment allows the team to tailor care specifically to each resident’s needs.
The staff at The White House are highly trained and continually update their skills to remain compliant with evolving legislation. This includes training in Dementia, Mental Health, and Mental Capacity, as well as managing conflict, challenging behaviour, first aid, and end-of-life care. The home is particularly focused on dementia care, with ongoing research into this delicate area, ensuring staff can meet and sometimes anticipate the needs of residents. This proactive approach helps develop strong, trusting relationships between staff and residents, ensuring the highest quality of care.
Regular training in dementia care, including managing distress responses, ensures that staff are always equipped with the latest knowledge. The home manager holds a Level Five qualification Leadership in Health and Social Care, a Diploma in Dementia, and is a Six Steps End-of-Life Care Champion. Staff also regularly attend training for managing challenging behaviour, as well as other mandatory courses, to ensure their skills are up to date and that they provide the best possible care to all residents.
