White House | Accommodation

At The White House, the Alyn Waters lounge offers a cozy and inviting space, complete with a lit fireplace that creates a warm, homely atmosphere. This lounge is designed to support residents with moderate cognitive spectrum disorders, with an emphasis on promoting independence and meaningful engagement. The activity coordinator plays a key role here, organising personalised activities that are dear to each resident, often using modern technology to enhance the experience.

The room features a large wall-mounted SMART TV for interactive games and an Alexa device for voice-activated commands. There’s also a projector available, making the space versatile for various activities. Additionally, residents have access to "RITA" (Reminiscence Interactive Therapy Activities), which allows them to engage with personalized content such as favourite music, photos, and hobbies through an interactive screen. RITA is a valuable tool for maintaining connections with personal interests and can even be used in hospitals to aid in care planning.

The lounge's environment is designed to be calming, with soft, delicate colours aimed at boosting tranquillity and creating a peaceful atmosphere. The décor and lighting, including chandeliers and LED lights, are chosen carefully to promote mood and clarity, ensuring residents feel at ease.

This area connects to the larger middle lounge, a quiet, TV-free space that is perfect for hosting visitors without distractions. Residents can also enjoy the Orangery, which overlooks the garden, offering a serene view and space for activities like watching Netflix or playing interactive games. The Orangery’s lighting is tailored to enhance mood with subtle changes that illuminate the room in a soothing glow.

The home's garden features faux grass soft flooring and a reminiscent town garden with cascading trees, a Summer House, and a path that leads back to the Orangery. A squirrel house with a climbing frame adds a playful touch for residents to enjoy. This outdoor space complements the indoor environment by providing peaceful, nature-filled surroundings.

To maintain a safe and pleasant environment, communal areas and bedrooms are cleaned daily, and bedding is regularly laundered. Corridors are signposted with names such as Erddig Park, Moss Valley, and Belle View Park, contributing to the familiar and comforting atmosphere. The home is regularly updated and maintained by a dedicated maintenance person who ensures that rooms are freshly painted, and repairs are attended to promptly.
